Poor maintenance of hatch covers, seals and coamings, resulting in water entering a ship’s hold can lead to highly expensive or even devastating consequences. Testing that hatch covers are weather-tight is a fundamental requirement for preventing damage to cargo and ensuring the safety of a vessel and its crew.
The 1 day course covers the proper Inspection and Maintenance of Hatch Cover based
on ICLL recommendations and RIGHTSHIP inspection and Safe Practices.

course is intended for all deck and engine officers, including deck ratings and
particularly the chief officers who will embark in a bulk carrier and safely
perform the task of a cargo officer.
